Additional Details

APPLIANCE WIRING MATERIAL
Style 20072 Multiple-conductor cable using non-integral jacket
Rating 125 deg C, 600 Vac, Horizontal flame.
Conductor 18 AWG – 12 AWG or smaller stranded, tinned or bare copper.
Insulation Extruded TPE, 30 mils min average thickness, 27 mils minimum thickness at any point.
Assembly Two insulated conductors are laid parallel with an overall bonded 4 mil min at any point wall of PTFE tape to form a SPT style cord. This cord is now prepared for the spiral wound heating element. This is done by carefully removing the insulation along the length of the cord so as to bare the copper conductor for approx 1/2 in widths at periodic intervals. A spirally wound nichrome or other type of resistance wire is then carefully wound the length of the cord. By varying the distance between contacts with the conductors, the number of turns per inch of resistance wire and the AWG size (resistance) of the spirally wound wire, different wattages per foot per service voltage can be obtained.
Shield Optional.
Jacket Extruded TPE, 40 mils min average thickness, 32 mils minimum thickness at any point.
Covering Optional – Extruded TPE, ETFE or FEP. 13 mils min at any point.
Standard Appliance Wiring Material UL 758.
Marking General.
Use Pipe heating cable where the acceptability of the combination is to be determined by Underwriters Laboratories Inc.
