Additional Details

APPLIANCE WIRING MATERIAL
Style 2968 Multiple-Conductor Cable using Non-Integral Extruded Jacket
Rating 150 deg C, 600 Vac, Horizontal Flame.
Conductor 18 AWG – 12 AWG, Stranded.
Insulation Extruded ETFE, 10 mils min average, 9 mils minimum at any point.
Assembly Over two or three ETFE insulated conductors laid parallel a 10 mil min avg., 8 mil min at any point wall of ETFE is extruded to form a parallel cord. This cord is now prepared for the spiral wound heating element. This is done by carefully removing the ETFE insulation along the length of the outer conductors so as to bare the copper conductor for approximately 1/2 inch widths at periodic intervals. A spirally wound nichrome or other type of resistance wire is then carefully wound the length of the core. By varying the distance between the contacts with the conductors, the number of turns per inch of resistance wire is then carefully wound the length of the cord. By varying the distance between contacts with the conductors, the number of turns per inch of resistance wire and the AWG size (resistance) of the spirally wound wire, different wattages per foot per service voltage can be obtained. A third conductor may be placed parallel to the assembly described above.
Shield Optional.
Covering Optional. Extruded ETFE, 13 mils min at any point.
Jacket Extruded ETFE, 20 mils min average, 16 mils minimum at any point.
Misc. Heating Element – Nichrome, copper alloy or other suitable resistance wire is spirally wound around the insulation; the AWG size of wire, number of turns, length between contact with the copper conductor are dependent upon the wattage demand and the voltage used to energize the cable.
Standard Appliance Wiring Material UL 758.
Marking General.
Use Pipe heating cable.
