Additional Details

APPLIANCE WIRING MATERIAL
Style 20004 Multiple-conductor cable using non-integral jacket
Rating 150 deg C, 600 Vac, Horizontal flame.
Conductor 18 AWG – 12 AWG stranded only.
Insulation Extruded FEP, 10 mils min average, 8 mils minimum at any point.
Assembly Over two or three FEP insulated conductors laid parallel a 10 mil min avg, 8 mil min at any point wall of FEP is extruded to form a parallel cord. This cord is now prepared for the spiral wound heating element. This is done by carefully removing the FEP insulation along the length of the outer conductor so as to bare the copper conductor for approx 1/2 in widths at periodic intervals. A spirally wound nichrome or other type of resistance wire is then carefully wound the length of the core, and may be soldered to the exposed conductor. By varying the distance between contacts with the conductors, the number of turns per inch of resistance wire and the AWG size (resistance) of the spirally wound wire, different wattages per foot per service voltage can be obtained. A third conductor may be placed parallel to the assembly described above. Optional shield and covering over jacket.
Shield Optional.
Covering Optional – 13 mils min at any point of extruded ETFE or FEP.
Jacket ETFE, 20 mils min average, 16 mils minimum at any point.
Standard Appliance Wiring Material UL 758.
Marking General.
Use Pipe heating cable where the acceptability of the combination is to be determined by Underwriters Laboratories Inc.
