Additional Details

APPLIANCE WIRING MATERIAL
Style 2724 Multiple-conductor cable using non-integral jacket (Heating Cable).
Rating 150 deg C, 600 Vac, Horizontal Flame.
Conductor Resistance wire, 18 AWG – 12 AWG, stranded.
Insulation Extruded FEP. 10 mils minimum average thickness, 8 mils minimum thickness at any point.
Assembly Over 2 or 3 FEP insulated conductors laid assembly parallel with a 5 mil minimum thickness at any point wall of FEP is extruded to form a parallel cord. This cord is now prepared for the spiral wound heating element. This is done by carefully removing the FEP insulation along the length of the outer conductors so as to bare the copper conductor for approx 1/2 in widths at periodic intervals. A spirally wound Nickel Chromium or other type of resistance wire is then carefully wound the length of the cord. By varying the distance between contacts with the conductors, the number of turns per inch of resistance wire is then carefully wound the length of the cord. By varying the distance between contacts with the conductors, the number of turns per inch of resistance wire and the AWG size (resistance) of the spirally wound wire, different wattages per foot per service voltage can be obtained. A third conductor may be placed parallel to the assembly described above. Heating Element – Nickel Chromium, copper alloy or other suitable resistance wire is spirally wound around the insulation; the AWG size of wire, number of turns, length between contact with the copper conductor are dependent upon the wattage demand and the voltage used to energize the cable.
Jacket Extruded FEP. 20 mils minimum average thickness, 18 mils minimum thickness at any point.
Shield Optional.
Covering Optional – Extruded FEP. 13 mils minimum thickness at any point.
Standard Appliance Wiring Material UL 758.
Marking General.
Use Pipe heating cable where the acceptability of the combination is to be determined by Underwriters Laboratories Inc.
